The victim was walking her dog through the park when she was grabbed by a man from behind who ripped her clothing and attempted to rape her.
The man is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, aged in his 40s and wearing dark clothes in an unkempt and ragged state. He is described as having a strong Manchester accent.
On Tuesday 3 July 2018, police arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of attempted rape. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parker, of GMP’s Trafford borough, said:
Quote“This woman has been subject to a truly terrifying ordeal, and she is currently being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.
“I want to reassure the community that we have increased patrols in the area, and if you have any concerns or queries, then please do speak to the officers.
“Our investigation is on-going, and I want to appeal to anyone who thinks they may have any information that can assist us, no matter how big or small, to please contact police.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 7747, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
