Shortly after 7pm on Monday 25 June 2018, police were called to reports of people fighting on Old Farm Crescent.

Officers were sent to the scene but by the time they arrived, the crowd had broken up.

They found a 16-year-old boy with stab wounds to his side, who was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a serious condition.

An 18-year-old man and two teenagers aged 16 and 17 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questioning.

Enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing.

Detective Constable Phil Scargill of GMP’s Tameside borough, said:

“We know that a number of men and teenagers were involved in the fight yesterday evening, and we are working to establish how the young man came to be assaulted.

“Although we have three people in custody, we still need to hear from people who may have seen the disturbance last night, or have information that could help our enquiries.

“You can talk to our local team on 0161 856 9256 or make a report anonymously through the independent charity, that detail could be the piece of information we need.”
