Salford and Eccles MP, Rebecca Long-Bailey has won the backing of her Constituency Labour Party once more, after being unanimously reselected to stand as MP for the party via a democratic 'Trigger Vote' by all 10 branches which make up the CLP as well as Trade Union Members and Affiliates.
In a statement released via her Twitter account she said:
Quote“To once again have the trust of members, Trade Unions and affiliates to be their representative in parliament is truly humbling.”
She went on to say:
Quote"With over 10 years of a Tory Government continuing to devastate the lives of people across Salford and Eccles, I am determined to fight for a Labour Government and the truly progressive policies needed to provide the quality of live everyone in Salford and Eccles deserves."
Salford Mayor, Paul Dennett, was among many who congratulated her upon being reselected by saying it was 'great news'.
The MP once stood for party leadership to no avail in 2020 against her then rival and now party current leader Sir Kier Starmer, who famously dismissed her as shadow education secretary months later.
