Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett has sent a heartfelt message of support for Ukraine on behalf of Salford and it's city council.

In the letter he (The Mayor) urged President Vladimir Putin to end hostilities and to focus on seeking a peaceful way forward.

Delegates from Russia and Ukraine are set to meet today for peace talks on the border of Belarus, however Ukrainian officials are not optimistic.

In the coming days the Civic Centre in Swinton will be adorned with both the Union flag and the flag of Ukraine as a show of support for Ukrainians living within the city.
