Jonathan Findlay (18/05/1982) of Hollyhedge Road in Wythenshawe has been sentenced to 20 months in prison at Manchester Crown Court (Minshall Street) on Monday 31 January 2022 after pleading guilty to robbery, and assisting an offender.

On 5 May 2021, at 9:45pm, three unknown masked men went into the Tesco Express store on Nursery Road, and proceeded to take cigarettes, and demand the safe be opened.

Three staff members in the store at the time were threatened with violence, before the men left and got into a black Saab waiting outside, being driven by Findlay.

Following a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV and witness accounts, detectives tracked down the black Saab to an address in Cheadle Heath, where Findlay was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Searches of the property also saw a number of packets of cigarettes of various brands recovered, and a small quantity of cash.

Findlay pleaded guilty to robbery and assisting an offender on 20 October 2021, and has now been given a 20 month custodial sentence.

Detective Constable Robert Shakespeare, from GMP's Stockport District said:
