Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has been released on bail after being held since Sunday 30th Jan on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman.
Police detained him in custody after a video posted onto social media accused him of carrying out incidents of physical violence against a woman.
Investigators applied for further time to question him and were granted so by the courts, as a result he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
He has now been issued bail pending further investigation.
A police statement said:
Quote"A 20-year-old man arrested (on Sunday 30 January 2022) on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation."
Mr Greenwood has been suspended from the football club he plays for pending the outcome of the investigations.
