  • ROBBERY SUSPECT CHARGED AFTER ARMED STRIKE AT ADDRESS IN SOUTH MANCHESTER ON FRIDAY

    Detectives in Wigan have charged a man from Leigh with robbery following a specialist strike at an address in south Manchester on Friday.

    Leon Sharples (20), of Lord Street, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court this morning (Monday 21 March).

    He will stand accused of robbery, actual bodily harm, and possession of a bladed article relating to an incident on Hawthorn Grove, Leigh, on Saturday 19 February.

    Sharples has also been charged with the assault of an emergency worker after an officer was injured following his arrest at a property in Chorlton on Friday 19 March.

    A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed pending further enquiries.
