Police have cordoned off part of Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester after a third incident has taken place in as little as a week, this time a teenage boy who fortunately only suffered a very minor laceration to his head by what police now suspect to have been a broken bottle after a fight broke out between two groups.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing incident having happened close to Primark and Burger King at around 9.20pm on the 16th of January 2020.

Officers found the injured boy at the scene but fortunately his injuries were not thought to be serious.

This latest incident happened after what police say was a targeted confrontation between two groups of youths.

Police wish to stress to that there is no wider threat to the public and no arrests have so far been made.

    A GMP spokesperson said:

"Officers were called to Piccadilly Gardens at 9.20pm tonight following a report of a male stabbed.

"On attendance it was a very minor laceration injury to his head so the scene will be lifted.

"This appears to be targeted confrontation between two groups and there is no wider public threat."

Police were called to the same area just four days ago on the 12th of Jan after four men were injured in an attack.
