Swinton's roaring Lions are in the process of offering a trial to Joe Lowe who is set to get some game time in their upcoming pre-season friendlies which start soon with a match against Salford's Red Devils.

Although a Wiganer by birth, 21 year-old Joe has spent the latter half of his life growing up in Australia, and for the past three years has been playing his rugby league with the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

The Falcons compete in the Queensland Cup and have an affiliation with Melbourne Storm.

Joe still has family that live in the Wigan area, and was looking to develop his immediate rugby career back here in his native England, and having done his research he felt that the Lions were a potential fit for both himself and the club.

Joe mainly plays as a full-back, but is also effective elsewhere in the backs.

Swinton Lions Head Coach Allan Coleman, said,

    Quote

“Joe approached the club last month from where he was based in Australia to ask about an opportunity for 2023. We did some research on Joe and then asked him to join us for pre-season training.

"He has since proved to be a popular lad amongst the squad, and has demonstrated that he’s got the potential as well as the skills and temperament to play both full-back or half-back.

"We will see how things go during the remainder of our pre-season and then sit down with Joe ahead of the start of our league campaign.”
