Regent Road is partially closed this afternoon as police deal with an incident involving the protest group 'Just Stop Oil', who are blocking the outbound carriageway towards Eccles.
Traffic is backing up onto the Mancunian Way and is impacting all major roads in and around the area.
The inbound carriageway has been coned off by police.
It is being advised if driving, to avoid the area if possible.
The protest group is reportedly walking slowly along the carriageway holding banners, which is delaying traffic around the busy route between Salford and Manchester.
The group says that it aims to highlight the damage that fossil fuels do to the environment and their goal is to prevent new licences and exploration consents from being granted by the UK government.
