Trafford Road was temporarily closed to traffic in all directions last night at around 11pm (21st July) close to the junction with Merchants Quay, after what is believed to have been due to a collision between a car and a tram.

Emergency service attended but fortunately, neither anyone on the tram or in the car were seriously injured.

The tram was reportedly partially blocking Trafford Rd for awhile and Metrolink engineers were called in to to deal with the situation.

The road has since fully reopened.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police, said:

"We can confirm the road was blocked for a short while overnight but the incident has now been dealt with."
