Empowered Conversations, which is run by Salford social enterprise Six Degrees, is a communication course that helps carers to consider their relationship with their loved ones living with dementia and to help them think about how they communicate.
Emma Smith, Empowered Conversations project manager, said: “'We create a warm, safe space for family carers to press the pause button on life for a few hours. The course encourages carers to think about their relationship, how they feel, how the person with dementia might feel, what gets in the way of us having the conversations we want to have, and can we make some small changes to get over this.
“There isn't an easy fix, we don't have all of the answers, but we do know that talking this through with others who know exactly how you feel really helps.”
The training course will be held at Morrisons, Eccles on Thursday, November 23, from 6pm- 8.30pm for a total of three weeks.
