The clever science boffins at the UK Met Office have issued a yellow alert for the possibility of thunderstorms and flash flooding due to torrential rain heading towards Salford tomorrow (07 July).
It is possible that we could also see hail and strong gusts of wind.
Tonight will be a largely dry with clear skies for most, although through the early hours a few isolated showers may develop. So if you have been putting off cutting the grass then this evening is the time to do it.
We will see a warm and possibly muggy night with a light southerly breeze.
However, tomorrows weather looks a little more chaotic as cloud and showers sweep in from the south-west, heavy and thundery for the most part. This could result in ground becoming quickly saturated, with water unable to drain away fast enough. This happened a few weeks ago in June and saw road closures in some areas, so please be aware.
If out and about across the city, take care if riding or driving and keep speeds to the minimum as roads can quickly become slippery. There may be delays on some routes as well as on public transport, so factor in extra time for your journeys.
The storms are expected to continue into the late afternoon, but will ease towards the evening, with sunshine once more returning to Sunny Salford.
I am sure that like ourselves, the Environment Agency will be monitoring local river levels and alerts will be issued if needed.
