It is going to be a chilly few days ahead as snow and ice has been forecast for parts of the North West, including Salford and Greater Manchester.

Temperatures tumbled overnight as some parts of Salford awoke to a small sprinkling of snow this morning with more predicted as the next couple of days progress.

The worst of the snow is most likely to fall over higher ground this morning, turning to rain, slush and sleet with the risk of icy roads, so keep your speeds to a minimum if out and about in affected areas.

Towards the afternoon there is the possibility of heavier snow falls upon higher ground and more exposed areas with a maximum temperature of around 7 degrees.

As the day progresses and we head into the evening and over night we should see snow continue to push north, turning into heavy rain as it does so. It is expected that this belt of weather will linger across the region well into Wednesday with temperatures in some parts plummeting below the zero line.

Overall it is looking pretty dismal if you are intending to head out for a spot of pandemic exercise so rap up and keep warm if you do.
