  • WET, WILD & WINDY WEEKEND AHEAD AS VERY STRONG GALES ARE TO BATTER THE UK

    The UK Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the entire country as forecasters say that very strong winds are set to batter the whole of the UK over 24 hours from around 6pm on Saturday 8th Feb.

    Gales reaching 70mph could be seen in some parts with wide-spread traffic disruption expected.

    Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected

    There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close

    There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage

    There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs

    The Met Office has said:

    "Very strong winds may bring disruption to parts of the UK later this weekend.

    "Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected.

    "Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves.

    "There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close.

    "There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

    "There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs."
