Salford is set to see some stormy weather over night, with strong winds and heavy rain set to batter the north as Storm Francis crosses our path.

A band of persistent and heavy rain is to track from the west over night to cover the region by early Tuesday morning (25th August).

Winds will grow stronger and strengthen throughout the night and forecast for Tuesday is looking to be very wet and windy with fresh strong to gale force winds and maximum temperatures of 18 Celsius.

Some of the gusts could be as much as 70mph in raised and exposed areas.

There is the very real possibility of some of natures fireworks too with Thunder and Lightning expected around midday.

The wind and rain is set to ease a little by Wednesday with some sunshine back on the horizon, but it will be short lived as Thursday and Friday look unsettled again with the prospects for the weekend not looking much better.
